  • Dredging and beach nourishment

    For Rijkswaterstaat we are carrying out underwater nourishment between Bloemendaal and Zandvoort.

     

    On Saturday 9 April work commenced to dump 2.4 million cubic metres of sand 750 metres off the coast near Bloemendaal and Zandvoort. The work extends over a total length of 7.5 km and is being carried out by Charlock, a new-build ‘clean ship' certified trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD), which entered service in 2016 and was immediately deployed on the Bloemendaal – Zandvoort project.

     

    Coastline intact
    Underwater nourishment is necessary to maintain the integrity of the Dutch coastline. More information on coastal maintenance can be found at www.rws.nl/kustonderhoud (currently in Dutch only).
