Dredging works at La Rochelle, France

  • La Rochelle dragage
  • Dredging and beach nourishment

In 2011 and 2012 Van den Herik carried out dredging work at La Rochelle, France.

The project included dredging, removing and dumping some 900,000 cu.m. of spoil, along with some structural protection along the toe of an existing dyke (Digue du Bout Blanc) using geotextile and 0.5 and 1 tonne boulders/blocks.

The work was part of a project to extend the marina at Les Minimes district.

The spoil to be removed came from a layer 1-5 metres thick and was dumped at a site at 30 km sailing distance from the marina.

Among the vessels employed in this project were our TSHD Christophorus, crane pontoon Prins 5 and two seagoing self-propelled hopper barges (Prins 3 and Prins 3).
This project was completed on Friday 16 March 2012 – well before the deadline and with a satisfied client!
