The award to Van den Herik for this project in Yerseke resulted from a construction team process with the municipality of Reimerswaal. This resulted in a beautiful design for the port area around the Prince Willem-Alexanderhaven and Princess Beatrixhaven, which we will also realize.
In early 2024, the first equipment was on site and we started phase 1 of the work with an official kickoff of the project by Councilman Van Overloop.
The implementation of the so-called ‘Yerseke Master Plan’ is an important job for the village, he stressed, from which everyone will benefit: port users, business owners, local residents and visitors. The renovation project is expected to be completed in May 2025.

In the first phase of work, the northernmost dam of Princess Beatrixhaven was reinforced. The lining on both the inside and outside of the dam was overlaid with crushed stone and poured asphalt. After the reinforcement, the dam was refurbished with street furniture. This includes benches, wastebaskets, a walking path and public-transport pylons, providing a fresh new look.

In the second phase of the work, the entrance to Prince Willem-Alexander Port was filled in and the connection created between these two ports by excavating the intermediate dam. This demolition and the remaining dams were also reinforced, of course. We also tackled parking lots, walkways and the trailer ramp and other street furniture in the area, among other things.
Now that the work is complete (2025), the port will be able to last for decades again!
