DREDGING AND REPLENISHMENT KEEP LAND ACCESSIBLE AND SAFE<\/h1>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sand and silt are constantly settling in waterways and harbors. Dredging is necessary to keep the waterways and ports accessible and safe for ships and to ensure that the water can flow properly to prevent flooding. Replenishment on the other hand is the replenishment of sand in places where it is needed. For example, on the beach or in the dunes to protect us from the sea. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Dredging specialist<\/strong>
\nDredging and beach replenishment are among our areas of expertise. We carry out dredging and replenishment projects not only in the Netherlands, but throughout Europe. Among others, we are active in France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Poland and Germany. Both on inland waters and at sea. <\/p>\n

Wide diversity of equipment<\/strong>
\nThe various dredging activities each require a unique approach. The environment and space for execution strongly determine our working method. Thanks to our wide range of equipment, we are able to carry out virtually any type of dredging work. Also for example in (smaller) ports and shallow channels. Our fleet includes hopper and cutter dredgers, but also crane ships, workboats and hydraulic cranes on pontoons. From our many years of experience, we know exactly which equipment is best suited to tackle a dredging project in the right way. <\/p>\n

Dredging in inland waters<\/strong>
\nIn addition to dredging at sea with our hoppers, we perform a large part of our dredging activities on rivers and canals. The list of European waterways where we are currently actively dredging or have dredged is endless. We keep them at depth by dredging throughout the year. <\/p>\n

Of course, we take care of the entire process, such as conducting water bottom surveys and soundings. To this end, we have our own survey department at Van den Herik. <\/em>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our seagoing hopper dredgers the T.S.H.D. Charlock and the T.S.H.D Christophorus are ideally suited for dredging and replenishment work close to the coast due to their limited draft and maneuverability.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Dredging abroad<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

For example, our dredging expertise also comes into its own in France. Together with our French subsidiary Eco Syst\u00e8mes de Dragage<\/a>, we have kept several seaports in Normandy at depth in recent years. <\/strong><\/p>\n

These include the ports of: Dieppe, Ouistreham, F\u00e9camp, Deauville-Trouville, Port-en-Bessin-Huppain, Grandcamp-Maisy and Le Tr\u00e9port.<\/em><\/p>\n

The work was carried out using a hopper dredger and a crane pontoon. These ports have many port activities that could not be disturbed. There is also a large tide difference: an average of 5 to 6 meters! The work therefore required a tight logistical planning. <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n

Large-scale infrastructure projects<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In addition to maintenance, we carry out project-based dredging work. A recent example is our work within the Roggebot combination, responsible for the redevelopment of the area around the N307 Roggebot near Kampen. <\/p>\n

On this project, during the construction of a new bridge and lock, we performed the dredging work where several of our crane barges and dredging pontoons were used.<\/p>\n

We carried out replenishment operations on the coast of Zeeland at Dishoek, Zoutelande and Julianadorp, among others. On behalf of the Department of Public Works, one of our hopper dredgers dredged a total of 3 million cubic meters of sand there. <\/p>\n

Both off the coast and in the existing channel (foreshore replenishment) and on the beaches themselves using pressurized pipes (beach replenishment). Thus, the coast is the strengthened and our country remains protected from the sea. <\/p>\n
